a trio exhibition featuring
lauren cassiano, will roberts, & lauren mitzelfelt
our debut showing experience, I AM HERE examines the human body as object; the body is one's vessel of expression, yet the thing that confines them most. how can we define, manipulate, and stretch this contradiction? our collaborative exhibition asks its viewer to look within their own feeling of bodily agitation and find space within its chaos. Is it possible to find peace in the stickiness of it all? how can we disrupt this discomfort as something that must be cured, and instead explore its expressive qualities? I AM HERE is a radical representation of physical detachment, inviting its audience to rework the logic of the body as "home" and question our placement of self in its physicality. in this reframing, we are able to grant purpose and exhibit gratitude towards our bodies in ways we find meaningful.
